Thanksgiving Table Tops & Thankfulness

1

I love everything about this table setting.
the casual yet elegant vibe, those golden goblets rising above
the eclectic place settings & cutlery,
the lovely apricot-colored embroidered linen napkins tied up in
the pewter acron napkin rings.
but most of all I love the color of the roses, those beautiful roses.

& when we are all seated around our holiday table let us all remember that
we are, indeed, thankful.

us Catholics say these, it's a ritual from the time we are children,
Before the meal

Bless us, O Lord! and these Thy gifts, which we are about to receive from Thy bounty, through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

After the meal

We give Thee thanks for all Thy benefits, O Almighty God, who livest and reignest world without end. Amen. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

& because each one of us may add something additional to the prayer, we go around the
table and ask what they would like to say thank you for...
I always ask for blessings of the fields, the animals of our Earth,
& I tell the Lord I am delighted with the way my sonh & daughter-in-law have provided
a wonderful home for my 3 little grandchildren.

I ask each one of you to remember the military and their families as they have given so very much..

& that we pray for politicians who seem to be lost sheep,
they need to work for the common good, not their political party,
or we need a new broom which will sweep them all out of DC.

I think Whoopi, Ophra, Donald Trump, Dylan Ratigan
would make great Joint Presidents.
we need a little bit of everything they've got.

Happy & Safe Holiday weekend, my friends.

I am so thankful I have you in my life.

now, some more prettiness, let me know the one you like the best.

NOW, for something scrumptious...

Raspberry Ricotta Chocolate Cake
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 40 minutes
Total Time: 60 minutes
Serving Size: Makes a 6 inch round cake.
Raspberry Ricotta Chocolate Cake | Playful Cooking
Ingredients
  • 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder (I use dutch dark cocoa powder)
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup oil
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup ricotta
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries
Directions
  • Preheat oven to 350F.
  • In a bowl, combine all the dry ingredients (flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt). In a separate bowl, whisk egg and sugar until they’re mixed together. Add oil, ricotta and milk and give another whisk. Empty the mixed dry ingredients to the wet ingredients bowl and whisk again. Finally, drop the fresh raspberries and using a spoon, mix it lightly.
  • Pour the cake batter in a six-inch round baking pan and bake for about 40 minutes or until it’s baked through. Check by inserting a knife or tooth pick right in the center. If it comes out clean, the cake is ready.
Notes
If the cake turns brown on top but remains uncooked in the center, leave the oven door partially open and continue baking.

  11. The cake recipe sounds yum and looks divine! Will have to try it!
Any table settings or rooms with candlelight is always relaxing and inviting. Images 2, 3 and 7 are my favourites. Thanks for the reminder about gratitude. Thanksgiving is not a celebration observed in Australia, but it's always the right time to stop and mentally give gratitude. It takes you out of your day to day problems somehow.
    I like your Christmassy header!
    Cheers,

  16. Marsha, the tables look divine but those utensils in the first photo are too big for my hands. I think I'm developing arthritis and am noticing things like that more and more.

Please know how much I value your comments. I read every single one and do hope you will take the time to leave your thoughts. I think InstaGram with the Emojis have taken a lot away from blogging, but I love IG too.
