People Change....

those of you who've been reading my blog for awhile already know that my
preference in interiors (mine) lean toward the very sleek, ultra sophisticated looks.

however, lately the images below have captured me.

I think it's because they are SO completely livable and comfortable,
made for creature comfort, without pretense.
you know?

and I think I've relaxing a bit as I've fallen under the influence of
Penelope Bianchi and The Contessa, Elizabeth.
2 women of immense talent and
boundless charm.

I've also decided it's OK for the dogs to get on the furniture, albeit they always did
but with much worry on my part.

now, I won't worry.
they are a part of my life, a big part!

& then there're the grandchildren,
aged 7.5 to newborn.

there can be no pretentious with them around !!!

have a wonderful day, my friends.

I'm almost back in the land of the living,
temps have dropped considerably meaning Fall is not too far away.

& yes, Helen, there is a huge difference between 100f & 90f.

  1. Marsha, it's better to live while one is alive and leave no time for regrets. as to temps...I'm in a flannel nightgown and it's been 42 degrees F a few mornings. Supposed to warm up this weekend. August is masquerading as September.

  2. Marsha, yes there is a big difference between 90 and 100. ;-)
I'm ready to embrace some crisp, cool days. And I'm here to say I definitely embrace dogs on the furniture. I like Sadie up on the sofa beside me. '-) Your doggie is adorable. What is her / his name? Have to say I like the style of that first room.....very comfy!

  3. Oh, that's so true! Except for the dogs on furniture! I am much more relaxed with my grandchildren and furniture, I just can't quite manage to let my dogs on the sofas. Perhaps because my husband would grump so much! Then again, he would only grump for a day. Maybe when these two old dogs are no longer with us and we have young ones again, I will have relaxed even more and they can have a rug on one sofa.

  4. Oh, so true! Except for allowing dogs on furniture, I can't quite manage to let my two oldies on the sofas.

  5. I love much in the first pic Marsha - it's a mix of me! White, neutrals, textures, European farm style etc. The 'library' is fabulous with the many shelves and heavy crown molding, the little love seat nice for reading, but the zebra rug NO WAY if it's real, and even if faux I wouldn't own it!
Oh such a sweet puppy dog - how many do you have? Pretty damask fabric on that sofa - I love anything blue, especially with white or cream.
Decorate any way YOU want - it's your home and one should always surround oneself with what one truly loves.

    Glad it's cooling down somewhat!

  6. Loved your choice of rooms....both resonate with my memories and times ...as for dogs and furniture, I am afraid I have allowed mine (over the last 40 years) to sit where they please...actually because it pleases me to see them cuddled among the pillows....and I love beautiful things around me...paintings, china, fabrics, and grand babies (whatever their age!)

  9. Marsha, love that dog, he kinda looks like my Bennie. That look is real Maine. Well the kids are coming for dinner, Dan is flying from DC and they love Beef brisket. I ordered a 6 lb brisket at Shaw's groc. been a good customer for 18 years. I am still in shock. That roast cost $56.00 @8.99 a pound. Got home unwrapped it to Marinate it and it was solid fat underneath . I am taking it back, we'll eat out. What's the price of beef brisket in Houston. They rape and pillage us in Maine. Even my neighbor said the prices in Maine compared to Boston
Grocery is unbelievable. There is no controle here. Now they passed a Law Fire works all year. The drunks Mainers in the neighborhood have turned the area into a frickin war zone. Starting to miss Houston.

Please know how much I value your comments. I read every single one and do hope you will take the time to leave your thoughts. I think InstaGram with the Emojis have taken a lot away from blogging, but I love IG too.
