Me & Mini-Me

hi everyone...

I've been so busy lately I really have not posted too much.

however, something caused my attention to wander to little girl's clothing this afternoon.

probably because of my 5-year old granddaughter, Archer,
who is a fashionista in her own right already.

casting around for Christmas gift ideas I, naturally, looked into what Sak's 5th Avenue
had to offer.

Me & Mini-Me

this is an actual Dolce & Gabbana photo, but you can already see where I'm going with this.

the little girl's dress is somewhere around $675.00

of course, it's silk, it's beautiful, and it would only be worn for about 1 year the way children grow.

G-Mommie does not have this in her Christmas budget this year.

but, you ask, "what if I could get a copy of almost the same dress?"

for about $75.00
& less for some styles probably.

it's pretty too, it's cotton, has a lining and is really adorable.
it does not, however, have seams which match perfectly as the original does,
& it has a zipper instead of bound buttonholes.

& just fyi, there are about 50 pieces in the children's collection so I'm certain
there are many more darling delightful D&G takeoffs.

would you buy a copy or a similar version?
not because it's DESIGNER, but because it's just so adorable?

I would.
& if you say yes, I'm going to find them for all of us.
in sizes 2T - 6 most likely, because after that the girls want to choose their own apparel, don't they?

your's in shopping.....

  1. Oh,yes,Marsha!
You've right in ALL sides of this story....
I like here the print, which looks like a child made a drawings!:)
    But......
You know, they are SO much possibilities to make the same "sweaty" dress more chipper: the fabrics and some details as you said( buttons or zipper.....)
Of cause this is from designer and so on and so forth!.....But, when I made a little dress to my 5 years old granddaughter Violet, she was also a princess:)))
I mean I have made her dress from the various remnants of the fashion fabrics, combinated with each other.....
And my sweetheart was wearing them only one year,unfortunately.....(((

That's very good idea,Marsha for all your customers which want to make a special, touching gift for the little princesses!!!

    Wish you peaceful,beautiful Sunday,dear friend:)

  2. Well, Marsha, now that is a savings. Darling dress.
    Like the name Archer.
Renee and I drove through four villages yesterday,
Rockport, Camden, North port and Belfast.
the leaves and sun and ocean were beautiful.
This Morning, Sunday it is 28 degrees,
crops have frozen and the leaves will start falling fast.
Not looking forward to another wicked winter.
Renee and David have booked a cottage
in Boca Raton for a month again this year. I
won't put my dog in the kennel, He will flip out.

  3. Frankly, I think the copy is more reasonable for most of us. Zipper instead of buttons...yes! Cotton instead of silk...yes! Lining...yes!
I haven't children, nor grands, but I think Mom's would love this.

  4. Oh, I'd buy a copy if my grandaughter would wear it. She has a mind of her own and nothing I say can change it. Drats.Love the dress.

Yes, I sure love the little dresses ! No, I sure don't like the cost..... Having two young granddaughters, both bilingual, a similar find would be a good thing. Your fashion, investigative services would be appreciated...

  8. Hi Marsha,
Cute post! I think the floral trench coat is absolutely gorgeous, but honestly when would most kids get to wear it? Unless you were the child of an A list celebrity, with the paparazzi hanging about?
    Cheers,

Please know how much I value your comments. I read every single one and do hope you will take the time to leave your thoughts. I think InstaGram with the Emojis have taken a lot away from blogging, but I love IG too.
