Oh, the DRAMA

before anyone writes a professional column about this collection

CHANEL SPRING COUTURE

I'll give you my take, sitting here at my desk in Houston, Texas, nowhere near the runway of Paris

before I go farther, I'll say how I've been lamenting the
"casualness" of dress in today's world.
lamenting to my girlfriends who, like me, remember when
WE DRESSED !!

anyway.

with this new collection I think Mr. Lagerfeld has made a
dramatic inroad toward
THE RETURN OF THE SUIT
THE RETURN OF THE DRESS "DRESS"

& the RETURN OF THE LITTLE HAT
the proper little hat
PROPER SHOE

did any of you guys see Tom Ford's movie, THE SINGLE MAN?
in this film Julienne Moore played a character from the 60's.
if you remember those years you'll recall how perfectly she was attired in every single scene.

this collection makes me think of those days, the days of JACQUELINE KENNEDY

the continuation of the deep "V" neckline, the plunging neckline.

I'm positive that my favorite aunt had an outfit
exactly like this one, only in bright red,
which I used to try on & dream of dancing with the Prince.

the absence of COLOR !!!
the presence of SILVER & GLITTER
the FEATHERS

the regalness of the entire show, maybe a bit like those "DYNASTY" DAYS"
where everything was sculpted and perfect ???

whatta do ya think?

if you follow me on INSTAGRAM you'll have already seen
the posting of the Giambattista Valli Couture show.

  1. It looks beautiful! I could not agree with you more about the beautiful and fin of really dressing up. Now a days "dressing up" is not the same that we all remember. This is a classic and beautiful collection that harkens back to Coco.

    1. I think the idea of "getting really dressed" was worth every single bit of the trouble & time. I enjoyed it so much !! And, you know, my husband enjoyed it too. Well, all us girls loved to compare notes on what was happening in the shops & closets. Now. Henrietta Ho Hum rules, except for the SAME hair & accessories. SAME!

  2. I do not like the MODELS faces.................lack of make up?
    TOO YOUNG?
KARL is ALWAYS A WINNER...................you know I saw him JULY FIRST in PARIS in leather pants and his signature gloves........he walked right by me.I could have reached out and KISSED HIM!

    1. I think he used the slicked back hair, etc. to make a point about the apparel. Suits/Dresses of this style really don't work with big hair, do they? HE is a master, no doubt !!! I cannot imagine how you resisted speaking to him !!!

Please know how much I value your comments. I read every single one and do hope you will take the time to leave your thoughts. I think InstaGram with the Emojis have taken a lot away from blogging, but I love IG too.
