Yes, Iris A is definitely amazing - and all those other women, and sometimes their men, whom Ari finds to photograph for Advanced Style! The cut of that black dress is absolutely fabulous - I would love that in a heavy, draped matte silk, but would pass on the silly belt(?) tied around her young and gorgeous (I'm sure) neck! I would also love it in aubergine, navy, gunmetal grey - and of course I'd have to find the perfect, comfy heels for special occasions. I do like the ankle strap style here. Oh to be young and striding again Marsha!I do love the last look you show - that's definitely me too - I love the huge polka dots - the only patterns I usually wear are stripes and dots - I cannot do florals and abstracts - however I'm taking a more demure small geometric print black and cream pleated skirt with big pockets on this cruise - will wear with cream silk blouse or lightweight black sweater for evening - fortunately no formal wear required on expedition class ships, thankfully!Happy week - Mary
I feel your pain -- literally! I have several pairs of very high heeled shoes I have never worn. I like to look at them from time to time, but I will not part with them. I wanna be Iris, too, should I live that long!
I TOTALLY feel your pain!! Can't wear any high heels anymore and even the 2" hurt if they squish my toes! I'm about to start wearing high top bright sneakers to Sunday church with midi skirts just so I can walk up for communion!! Now that will make a statement I suppose. A toast to our FEET and their comfort! The men have mastered this one, why are we so silly not to revolt against those stupid heels!!
I LEFT THOSE HIGH HEELS LONG AGO when MY MOTHER told me TO OPEN my EYES about MY FUTURE HUSBAND!I haveNOT LOOKED BACK or MISSED THEM...............you can RUN faster and DANCE BETTER!YES, IRIS and I would have a BALL IN HER CLOSET!!!!!!!!!!!!!ESPECIALLY, HER ACCESSORY STASH.We have lived similar lives..............decorator/shop owner.............world traveler/semester at sea..........buy what YOU LIKE/NOT what is TRENDING.VERY HONORED TO BE HERE WITH IRIS...............THANK YOU!LA CONTESSAXX
I completely agree with you that La Contessa is up there with Iris as being a STYLE ICON! Having a husband who is 6'4" and three model tall daughters, I often attempt to wear heels. So like you, I hobble around on them for awhile and finally abandon them all together. I'm new to your blog and really enjoy it!
Elizabeth, The Contessa, is one style icon.
Please know how much I value your comments. I read every single one and do hope you will take the time to leave your thoughts. I think InstaGram with the Emojis have taken a lot away from blogging, but I love IG too.
