Fingerless Gloves

Just FYI, Michael Jackson started this whole trend in the 80's, and
the bag-ladies on the street wore them long before this !!

(Ralph Lauren Runway)

But, today they are SO big one would think they had never
been seen on this planet.

I was in Paris in September 2005, sitting outside at a little cafe
on Rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré with my husband & our beautiful little poodle, FiFi.
My husband would not leave home without FiFi, and we had planned a "family"
vacation beginning in Paris.  The 3 of us left Houston early so we could "do"
Paris for a few days before decamping to the Amalfi Coast where everyone
would join us.  Well, Hurricane Rita started churing in the Gulf of Mexico
and all planes from Houston were grounded, and traffic came to a dead stop
on all freeways.  Well, I digress...but, anyway, while sitting at this little cafe
this stunning looking couple sat down next to us.  Speaking English.
I couldn't tell the exact nationality.

She was head-to-toe in designer apparel, shoes, handbag, suit &
CHANEL'S NEW WHITE LEATHER FINGERLESS GLOVES.
With Swarovski cyrstal Chanel logo. No one could miss that logo.

Apparrently, her husband was quite annoyed at her extravagance
and they bantered back & forth for quite a while.  Remember, the tables
are quite close together, so without meaning to listen I had to listen.
You know?

He said, "You're making a bad impression on our daughter
with all this compulsion to shop."
She said, "Oh no, you're incorrect, I would not dream of depriving
her of this experience."

Aha.  I finally knew what to say to my husband when moments
like this came up.

Rue du Faubourg St. Honore is home to many of the world’s top designers of fashion and luxury goods. The street stretches from the Louvre Museum all the way up to Place Beauvau and presents a succession of luxury shops, boutiques and cafes. Fashion Designer stores include Gianni Versace, Christian Dior, Hermès, Jean Paul Gaultier, Christian Lacroix, Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche and Chloé

We stayed in this location because we had FiFi and the Tuileries Gardens
were only across the street.

Please know how much I value your comments. I read every single one and do hope you will take the time to leave your thoughts. I think InstaGram with the Emojis have taken a lot away from blogging, but I love IG too.
