The Great Gatsby

last night I dreamt I was with Michael Jackson in Las Vegas,
he was wearing regular street clothes, but he had a cowboy hat on, a big black one.

there we were inside the casino and no one except me knew it was MJ.

he kept worrying about an upcoming performance and the weather,
wondering if his stage outfit would hold up.
knowing the perfectionist he was I completely sympathized with him.

the outfit conversation turned to the remake of
The Great Gatsby
& he said he didn't think it needed remaking because it was near perfect before.

I said I would always remember Robert Redford & Mia Farrow
and no matter what the new movie was like that memory wouldn't go away.

& then I thought how wonderful it would be if we could all dress like this
at least one more time.....

finally Michael told me we had to leave the casino, he asked me to come with him
while he got his trailer (which btw looked like a horse trailer to me),
and got ready for his performance...

he said he wanted me to go with him, that I had given him luck and made him laugh.

only then did I realize he was to perform at the

SUPER BOWL.

well way back in 1993 I did go to the Super Bowl in Los Angeles,
the Dallas Cowboys vs Buffalo Bills,
the Cowboys won 52-17,
but the reason I went was to see Michael perform live.
the most sensational & spectacular show ever,
& the dawn of a new era in Super Bowl halftimes.

last night I saw the performance again,
from a whole new vantage point,
and once again it was super splendid.

what's the Great Gatsby got to do with it?
I had to find a way to show this photograph,
which is stunningly beautiful...
and I really did dream about me & Michael.

it's the way I think, just so you know.
crazily disjointed, but always connected.

What a beautiful dream. I hope he is happy in heaven. I loved him and his music and dance.

  4. Prepare to find this kinda spooky! SeriouslyI
(I am trying to work on less wordiness and fewer explanation points!)

When our youngest (pushing 44 now) was 13 or something...(you can google the date) My darling Adam, Ella and I were driving home from some great thing....to Pasadena.....and Dodger Stadium was all "lit up"! I said, "what's going on at Dodger Staduim??"

Ella says........."MOMMY!!!! It's Michael Jackson! Oh, what I would give to see one of his concerts!"

This resonated with me big time....which I will tell later!

I said.....let's take Adam home (12 minutes from there) ,drop him off......and we will come back and try to buy "scalpers" tickets!

We arrived back; I flew up; parked the car.....raced to the front "gate"! The concert had started perhaps 3 minutes earlier!

Formerly 2000.00 tickets (Adam gave me; God bless him! $500 for two tickets!

We raced from the car.......these seats........(she will corroborate.....center box seats! I had no idea really who this was.....I love music; but I was ignorant!

I was standing on the chairs screaming from the middle of the 3rd row along with my daughter as I watched the most amazing concert!!

That is the good news! Honestly; fantastic! I was astonished by his talent......charisma...all of it!

It was the "Thriller" concert. We had the best seats in the whole house! I think I got some serious good things in the "emotional bank account" with my daughter! We left thrilled to complete pieces!

So. It wasn't perfect. I am a dependent spots. I was so excited to get there and get tickets. Where did we park?

Yes. No keys that beep! Yes. 3 hours later. (No cell phones..no pagers, no beepers! No key beepers! again!

She was really nice about it! We did have such a fabulous time!

Michael Jackson was at his best!

  5. Oh dear! I wrote a long comment (all praising you to the skies!) and telling you and your readers that in 1984; I took my daughter
to a Michael Jackson concert! (almost by accident)! (she was 14!

In 1963; The Beatles were playing for two nights at the Hollywood Bowl! I was 16!
Two days before the concert.......(people were sleeping in sleeping bags outside the box office for what seemed like miles!)

I told my mother; "I really want to go to a concert at the Hollywood Bowl next Thursday (orwhateveritwas)

She called her ticket agent (still ours centuries later) and he says......."I have a box in the front row!" (I think she thought , honestly, I was taking my friends toa symphony or something! She was delighted to spend (at the last second; mind you!
whatever it was, for the box!

I wish I could remember what friends I took!

Even in the front row.....(center, no less) (sorry; don't mean to brag.......just trying to show what a fantastic mother I had!!!)

    Seriously!
We couldn't hear one single thing.....except the screaming of the audience!

But, boy, was it obvious these tousle-haired boys ; fabulous musicians.....(and with the most astonishing charisma I have ever seen)

    Would be a world-wide phenomena!!!

Thank you Mommy! I tried to "pass forward" at the Michael Jackson concert..........1984??? I think?!!

Please know how much I value your comments. I read every single one and do hope you will take the time to leave your thoughts. I think InstaGram with the Emojis have taken a lot away from blogging, but I love IG too.
