FALL 2013 What's Coming

before our SUMMER is over we're seeing what's happening in fashion
for Fall/Winter in all the shops.
this is normal, isn't it?

I was out with a couple of my girlfriends the other day and we decided to
go to both Neiman's and Sak's 5th Avenue,
here in Houston these fabulous stores are on opposite ends of our famous
Galleria
the destination for all serious shopping
(for now, that is, as there is a new mecca being built right down Post Oak Boulevard
which will ONLY be for LUXURY establishments).

so, here we go on some things from

BCBG Max Azria

Urban-chic at BCBG's Fall 2013 Show

except for the knit cap I am all over this look...this is the look which is best
for me at this point in my life...eccentric, creative, happening woman who
does not go to an office.

Urban-chic at BCBG's Fall 2013 Show

The Inspiration: The art, architecture and history of Istanbul along with the layered eclectic look of southern European gypsies and the edgy contemporary artwork of Phil Frost.

My Review: Very wearable silhouettes with fun textured outerwear that will appeal to both the hip downtown crowd as well as the loyal BCBG woman who loves the brand known for their easy femininity and attention to detail.

what I really like is the long, lean line of the outfits, much like The Row only more
embellished, which suits me to a T.

so for all you tiny girls remember Mary Kate and Ashley are also very small
& they wear this look daily...it's THEIR look.

the sheerness over leather leggings is such a BIG trend going forward too.

now, not saying we all have to make a place in our budgets for 2-3 of these ensembles,

but what do we already own that can be translated into this look?

for example, I have a couple of long, sheer skirts...if I cut some of the underlining off the
resemblance would be perfect.

we all have some big loose baggy sweaters.
we have pashminas.
we have boots.
& maybe we have a fur vest or a 3/4 length straight coat.

the really good news is that BCBG is at a price point most of us think is OK;

there are a couple of those fabrics I think I will love & wear
all the time.  & won't they be wonderful for travelling?

style.com says:

This season at BCBG Max Azria, the fusion of two disparate influences—Istanbul and Phil Frost's gritty contemporary art—brought about a collection that was decidedly more street than sweet. "We wanted to take something that was centuries old and combine it with something modern," Lubov Azria said at a preview. The filmy silk slips that were the foundation of many of these heavily layered outfits had a slight gypsy feel. They were shown over casual T-shirts and cashmere pullovers, then topped with statement-making outerwear items like colorful patchworked fur vests, boxy leather biker jackets, and sporty jacquard hoodies with voluminous fox-trimmed hoods. It was refreshing when a few of the more pared-down pieces, including a clean mesh tuxedo tank, came down the runway. In general, this piled-up, coat-centric look advanced a tougher, more urban version of the BCBG woman.

so, what do you think?
would you wear this look?

&
this is the way I love to look, Sunday night Tex-Mex dinner at the local joint,
cruising around town during the day, at home watching TV...

& I cannot wait for the new James Spader show, and the return of Scandal.

  5. The layered look works best on women who are rail thin, I believe. Lovely to look at, but I won't be wearing them. I do like the knit caps though.

Please know how much I value your comments. I read every single one and do hope you will take the time to leave your thoughts. I think InstaGram with the Emojis have taken a lot away from blogging, but I love IG too.
