Bonjour, Happiness

A delightful little snippet of a book,
written by an American woman with French ancestry.

Explaining her observations of aging...
the differences between the French values and the American ones.

Witty, caustic, sensible, and quite correct in her assumptions.

Mostly important to women as they enter their 50's & beyond.
About how intellect, experience, wit, charm & life well-lived
are so much more important than what we see in the mirror.
Attributes so much more important in making life worth living at every age.

A great gift for a mother, aunt, sister or friend.

Welcome to my new followers !!
I appreciate each of my friends/followers so very much.

I work very hard to produce interesting content for
these pages so, hopefully, my girlfriends will enjoy
each post.

Tomorrow, tear stains on white dogs...
how to remedy this correctly.

Simply Irresistible Paris

H

Please join me on me today
for the Simply Irresistible Day in Paris,
hosted by Anita of
Castles, Crowns and Cottages

Castle, Crowns and Cottages
HERE

This is the way I used to travel,
before the airlines charged so much for baggage.
Now, I just wear black.

I simply could not resist playing ABBA's
Our Last Summer
and Francoise Hardy's music in her native French,
hope you enjoy & understand ABBA still rules for me!

Welcome to Paris!
Come along with me as we spend our day in this truly beautiful city.
We're not going to do the ordinary things, as you would guess if you
know me at all.

Starting our at the Hotel Lotti on Rue de Castiglione ideally
located in the 1st Arrondissement,

the Westin Vendome is right next door if you prefer...

from the location you can walk almost everywhere, which is
hugely important in this lovely city, as if you're a tourist walking is the
only way to see everything.

hopefully, you have studied a map, googleEarth, or something to
give you an idea where you are, otherwise you will waste a whole
lot of time getting oriented.

From our hotel you are close to the Jardin Tuileries, which is
an absolute must-see, it was originally designed for horse-drawn
carriages and pedestrians and the pathway is still the same.
We travel with our French Poodle, FiFi, so we must stay
near a green area.  Also, you step out into the street, walk a few
steps and you're on the Rue St. Honore, the most amazing shopping
street filled with sidewalk cafes....heavenly.

But, for this morning, we have to go get breakfast, don't we?
So, off to Angelina's which is as well-known as
Laudaree, but closer to our hotel & starting point,
just down the Rue de Rivoli.

we could wear something like this as it is so Parisian

you must not miss the divine Guerlain Perfume Shoppe
directly across the street from the hotel.
Amazing.

Fortified, continue on the Galeries Lafayette,
even if you don't want to shop go to see the architecture,
and have a glass of champagne on their roof terrace where
you overlook the city.

Find one of the beautiful
Au Nom de la Rose Shops
which are all around the city

precious restaurant in Montmarte

time to regroup back at the hotel...put away all the parcels & goodies,
and take our walk to one of the sidewalk cafes, sit outside, have a glass of
lovely white wine, and order something simple,
continue on to Place de la Concorde,

and depending on your stamina, you can walk along the Seine,
or cross one of the bridges into another world, one so much smaller,
much more interesting to most of us, all the shops and antiques, books,
and art of the Marais...

to be transported to the original square in Paris
Place des Vosges
take a quick taxi ride,
see a complete post I did on this wonder,

HERE

Anita and all the ladies are having dinner tonight so we must get
back to the hotel and get dressed. What do you think I should wear?

I think it will be this black one...
Anita is staying at the Four Season Hotel George V,
and everyone is having dinner in the
5-Star Restaurant Le Cinq.

Please see a post I did about the flowers in
the George V

I encourage each of you to click over to my other posts
as they were done with much detail and are very interesting
about details of Paris...

Another snippet of Paris you will enjoy is the
fabulous blog called
Paris Breakfast
from Carol Gillot who is an artist
and does wonderful watercolors which are
available via her shop on Etsy.

She has a great blog with lots of cool entries of interesting
places in Paris...

I cannot tell you how happy I am to be in Paris
with so many wonderful girlfriends.
Everyone is celebrating!
Everyone is coming back together.

Sending love from The City of Light
to all of you....

Earrings, Polyvore, Brad Pitt & The Tree of Life Movie + American Idol Finale

Going to cover a lot of territory in this post it looks like.

Polyvore just noticed, today, that
Feather Earrings
are in the Top 10 of trends among their polyvorians,
of which I am one :)'s

OK.  As I told Taj Acosta in a comment on her blog,
Gorgeous Glam
which you will find

Splenderosa has been designing a new collection
of beautiful, elegant & very fashion-forward
feather earrings...herea are a few pics, which are very bad,
but, hey, one can't be good at everything...

White Topaz Dangle, Swarovski crystals on feathers, sterling silver

Double Sterling circles hand wire-wrapped with black wire,
gold rings, black feathers with Swarovskis

Double-Sided Swarovski Rings
with copper-colored Swarovskis on feather dangles

Copper wire hand-wrapped rings with Labradorite pear drops,
Swarovski crystals on feather dangles

Go to Polyvore to see examples of ensembles
created by others using feather earrings,

Our feather earrings are made to the same standards as
all of the other semi-precious Splenderosa jewelry,
in other words, only the best.

The Tree of Life
a new film with
Brad Pitt & Sean Penn

premiered in L.A. a couple of nights ago,
and after watching various trailers I am certain this
will be a major triumph for Mr. Pitt.

He should have won an Oscar already, Inglourious Basterds
was one of the best films ever made, so maybe this year
will be his time...anyway the film was made by the
Austin, Texas-based Terrance Malik, and
was filmed in Texas, a lot of it in Houston.

You can read a rave review almost anywhere.

My thoughts are that ANYTHING
George Clooney
or
Brad Pitt
is in is worth the price & the time of a real movie
in a real theatre.

American Idol Finale
my take
after James left I lost interest in the talent,
but last night's closing show was a show & 1/2.

Jack Black,
totally adorable.

Mark Antony & JLo,
you can tell they are in love
& she is absolutely so brilliantly cute/beautiful
over-the-top with her costumes & dancing,
loved loved loved this bit.

SEE THEM HERE

Beyonce

There must be someone in attendance on her staff
whose sole job must be the wind machine ALWAYS
blowing on her and, amazingly, no one else.
I'll give it to my fellow Houstonian,
SHE  can sing and SHE can dance.

SEE HER HERE

Lady GaGa

A.M.A.Z.I.N.G

BONO

& the Spider Man bit
was beautiful.
Bono is my dog's namesake because my dog
thinks he's a rockstar and, honey, who else
would I have named him after?

 SEE PERFORMANCE HERE

STEVEN TYLER

he closed the show.
he definitely closed the show.
No one, no one, no one
is as talented musically as he is, and
no one can  write music like he does
and no one can sing like he can.
In his 60's he's more beautiful than ever
because now we know he has heart.
