Catherine's Outfit

it's time once again
for
Catherine @ The Shiny Pebble
to get dressed to coordinate with
her virtually redone dining room.
go here
to see the room redo which was done by

Beth Connolly @ Chinoiserie Chic

Ok, Chinoiserie Chic...
I love Beth's design work, especially the
blue & white porcelain collections...
but, the challenge of finding the perfect outfit
has been a difficult one.

entertaining at home
one can wear almost anything,
the hostess makes the rules...
but, too casual, for an uptown room
didn't seem correct...
and neither did cocktail dress...
so this was my decision...

this beautiful long silk dress from
Zac Posen Spring 2010

Somehow, this one seemed like it had the POW of pizazz
and still a softness & femininity
for at-home entertaining.

and for the jewelry, I chose this simple circlet necklace
of faceted amethysts & citrine with
a jewelled clasp which can be worn front, side or back...

the dress has enough movement & patterned
design to call for an opulent
but still structured necklace

multiple bracelets like this one,
which is also the photo on my blog header

rather simple, but large,
faceted amethyst earrings

I'm thinking if all of this goes well
Catherine will invite us blogisphere friends to
her dinner party.
You guys can bring the wine, ok?

Go see Catherine so you will know how her dining room turned out...
and why I chose this outfit & jewelry

Definition:  Chinoiserie
Chinese House (Potsdam) Chinoiserie [1] refers to a recurring theme in European artistic styles since the seventeenth century, which reflects Chinese art and is characterized by the use of fanciful imagery of an imaginary China, by asymmetry in format and whimsical contrasts of scale, and by the attempts to imitate Chinese porcelain and the use of lacquerlike materials and decoration. Chinoiserie entered the European repertory in the mid-to-late seventeenth century; its popularity peaked around the middle of the eighteenth century, when it was easily assimilated into rococo.

Please know how much I value your comments. I read every single one and do hope you will take the time to leave your thoughts. I think InstaGram with the Emojis have taken a lot away from blogging, but I love IG too.
