Story of My Life...

& this is true of me...my stacks look amazingly similar.
Life's details waiting to be placed into the proper folder.
Once in the folder, probably forgotten.

I have always been a "last minute, clutch player" knowing
I would, somehow, miraculously succeed, and complete
the task just as the curtain goes up.
Do you ever do this?

Nowadays, it seems uncomfortable to rush.
I prefer arriving at the airport before the door of the plane is beginning to close.
I prefer to decorate the Christmas tree, even it it still takes 3 days,
and have time to truly enjoy it's shimmering beauty...
you know, sitting with my 2 lovely doggies, fireplace going, candles lighted,
sipping a nice Bordeaux, alone...
then to be racing around until the last moment
always thinking it could be just a little better.

It doesn't get better, it just gets to be "more."

back from a little holiday, ready to face the Fall fashions
& attendant hysteria.  Remember what Oscar Wilde said:

  3. WOW, I couldn't have said it better myself! I like to tell myself, I've just learned the secret to slowing down and living each moment before I arrive at the one I'm heading to. Have a nice weekend :) XO, Kel

  5. I seem to move in and out of both...one week moving at a frantic pace, the next more leisurely and thoughtful.

I loved how you described decorating for Christmas...yes, that is to be slowly enjoyed!

  6. Hello! Couldn't resist popping in to say 'hi'.. again.
Am off to bed as we are leaving so early tomorrow.

I hear you on the 'last minute' thing.. I tend to be a magician under the whip and I can achieve wonders when my brain is forced to work at maximum speed.. though like you, I am starting to feel it is not worth the sweat. Life really shouldn't be about the 'just in time' approach.. I am teaching myself to slow down and allow each thing its rightful pace and time. I think the Buddhists have it right in that sence! Mindfulness is the key to inner peace and life enjoyment.

And whilst I think the monks rock, I also adore Oscar Wilde!!

    Hugs

  8. I'm always in a rush and try to get too much done in too little time. My justification is that if I did any less than I might be bored. I do think however, everyone need to put down the phone, turn off the computer and recharge through calm quiet and casual conversation.

  9. I'm an awful last minute girl dear Marsha...never finish with my things on time or the way I planned...it's a very annoying thing...I hope one day it'll get better...

Have a great weekend, cheers: Evi

  12. What a great picture! How did she get into my house and take that picture of all of my piles? I am quite overwhelmed right now!! But I know that this will pass too.
I would have never guessed that you were a last minute kind of gal.
I like to think that I am more planned... but NOT ALWAYS!
I wore my fabulous necklace to an event last evening. I got so many compliments and I just love that you made it for me. Everytime I see it I say a prayer for you! Thanks you sweet generous friend!
Lots of love... glad you are back.

  13. Glad you are back. I race around like crazy and I do not like it....I am trying to make a conscious effort to relax and do what I can do and not to have life pass me by because I am so busy. Some things is has worked for and some are a work in progress.

  14. Dear Marsha, great to have to back, hope you had a fantastic time.

I am SO with you! I file everything and forget about it. I'm always running for the plane. Christmas however, I am very organised and always have time to enjoy it. It's probably the only thing in my life that's not a mad rush! xx

Please know how much I value your comments. I read every single one and do hope you will take the time to leave your thoughts. I think InstaGram with the Emojis have taken a lot away from blogging, but I love IG too.
