"By Invitation Only" Year 3, Chapter 2, FASHION

International Blog Party

I wish to say a grateful "thank you" to all of our loyal readers,
as well as the new ones.

this series has been successful beyond my wildest dreams
& those of our membership as well.  it is with gratitude that we acknowledge
none of this could happen with all of you.

something fun for today, something all women can understand,
and something seriously important:

an outfit we love
&
an outfit we don't love (hate).

needless to say, even this subject required much attention.
so I thought I should choose an event, show you how I would dress
for this event, and then show an outfit which I consider hideous for any event.

the event, of course, is lunch !

& since money is no object (for this project) & the fact that we're in Houston,
where our current daytime Fall weather is in the 80's F,
I've chosen something which is not knock-your-socks-off styling,
but something that is right off the Fall 2013 runway.

if I owned this outfit and, believe me, I would love to,
I would wear it to pieces.
this is perfect for my lifestyle and with the printed skirt it is also
happening fashion.
I seriously love the choker for today's styling.
cashmere pullover, cashmere skirt from Chanel.

& this one below, which is Fendi, makes no sense to me at all
even if it is just a runway outfit.
ladies, this is something I would never wear, not even as separates.
& those shoes?

and to think, Karl Lagerfeld designs for both collections

  1. Love the first outfit....especially love the choker and the jumper (pullover/sweater in non-australian speak). The second outfit is intriguing....open toe sandals and tweed...what sort of weather that would suit I cannot imagine!

Well, at least we can observe that KL is versatile...

  3. Hello Splenderosa,
I love this blog. The music is wonderful. I am transported to a wonderful place.
I like you to note that in your introductory statement above, when you express your appreciation to all your followers, you have to say: It is with gratitude that we acknowledge none of this could happen without all of you.

  4. Dear Marsha,
Love, love your post! Love particularly the painting, just lovely and full of atmosphere!
And the cashmere pullover - Oh, to die for. Our dear Karl can be brilliant, but don't know what's going on with him at the moment, he works on a lot of "building sites", photography, books...talk shows....and...and...., maybe he becomes somewhat commercial, we'll see.
However - a lovely and amusing post!

  6. Brilliant choices Marsha ...... you are so good at this !!
I found it so easy to find outfits that I didn't like ........ I still don't understand some of the designers ideas, even though I know that they say it's all about pushing boundaries etc, etc !
Have a lovely week Marsha. XXXX

  7. Love your choices.....the one you choose is chic and yet looks so comfortable. The Prada however leaves me speechless:)

  8. LOVE the first outfit...very me also. The second? Looks more like a NY Broadway theatre piece...which would would make a big statement piece for the leading actress a 'play'....More 'younger' look I suppose if you were to place it in real every day living....Is it true that Karl Lagerfield designs ALSO for Prada? I didn't know that...I thought it the italian Prada house was run by Miuccia Prada.Enjoy your blog!

    1. It isn't Prada, it's Fendi. I've now corrected my mistake. Thank you for reminding me.

    1. Well, believe it or not, I made a mistake and said "Prada" when it should have been "Fendi."
Where shall we meet, maybe at your little place in Provence?

  11. That asymmetrical Lagerfeld? I'm scratching my head...

As for the boots in your Thumbs Up pick, you know me... I'd go for a heel. Nothing outrageous. Maybe three inches.

    1. Wolfie, KL does design Fendi. First, I said Prada which is incorrect. It's definitely Fendi.

  12. Ah... it's Fendi, not Lagerfeld. The one that seems so odd.

  13. The miss is made even worse by the model's seemingly unwashed hair.

    I love your choices!
