the way we were, #1

American Vogue, edition of April 15, 1963.
The actress Audrey Hepburn photographed with her husband Mel Ferrer
(actor and director)
by Bert Stern for Vogue in New York (USA), on March 15, 1963.
Audrey was wearing:
  • Evening gownGivenchy (of pink tulle with an inner layer of embroidery in pearls, paillettes, sequins, crystals pink and silver, and a dramatic tulle veil, of his haute couture collection for the Spring of 1963).
Note:  Audrey’s hairstyle was created and done by Alexandre de Paris.

    1. I doubt we will ever have this kind of glamour again.
      For that, I am sad.

  5. Audrey seemed to always be the true epitome of elegance and grace - not just when dressed for the screen or fashion shots, but anytime, and she was a true humanitarian working tirelessly for UNICEF. She looked wonderful just in tapered trousers, a crisp collared shirt and flats. I have noticed many young women today still love her style - my youngest granddaughter being one - and they always sigh when they see pics of her.

I like your new series "the way we were" - anything sharing nostalgia is always interesting - I believe you may just keep our memories working with these fun posts.
    Thanks and hugs.

  6. What a marvelous picture, sweet and sad at the same time. Most of the pictures I've seen of him are of an older, more tired man, and here he is young and vital. And she, of the extraordinary dancer's posture and swan neck, ooh la. I can almost hear her distinctive accent, commenting on the preparations.

  8. What a gorgeous photo! Not one I've seen before. She always looked so serene and elegant and yet seeming to be not distant or aloof. What a divine dress! And the hair! And that concoction of tulle! Givenchy certainly seemed to know how to do it to perfection for her. I'm sure she was his perfect muse!
Will look forward to the next images you post!

Please know how much I value your comments. I read every single one and do hope you will take the time to leave your thoughts. I think InstaGram with the Emojis have taken a lot away from blogging, but I love IG too.
