Perfect Travel Wardrobe

Perfect Travel Wardrobe by splenderosa on Polyvore featuring Misumi, Topshop, Proenza Schouler, American Vintage, rag & bone, Warehouse, Rick Owens Lilies, Donna Karan, MANGO and AG Adriano Goldschmied
you know when someone asks your opinion it's flattering, isn't it?

that's exactly the reason for this post.
one of my reader's sent an email asking me for a list of things to pack for a week in Italy.

I originally posted this last year and looking at it again I wouldn't change a thing.

go HERE to see original post with detailed information on styling this wardrobe

a 9-Midnight ANYWHERE (except the beach, perhaps) wardrobe.

my reader told me she was only using a carry-on piece of luggage,
no checked luggage.
I'm not certain I could do this :)'s,
however, my reader could pare down this assemblage so that it's a fit for her lifestyle
& her luggage, I think.

as most of you know, I am not a jeans person at all.
I have jeans, of course, but I don't take any of them with me when I travel.
my favorites are a muted blue/green flower print from Escada, because they
stretch, and another pale gray from Chico's, also because they have a little give
& don't bag at the knees. both are narrow legged.

(short aside:  I was shocked yesterday to see one of my co-workers,
who is really talented, show up for work in jeans ((blue bluejeans)) that were literally shredded
all the way down both legs. & a hideous blouson black short-sleeved blouse.
we are in the FASHION business !!!
hello? )

the suggestions above appeal to me because they are timeless classics
which impart an elegance of style
which is understated, but with a touch of whimsy.

we need whimsy in fashion, most definitely!

it's a beautiful day in Houston,

one of my guy friends and I went out to dinner last Thursday,
WE WALKED
from my building!

there is a new development on Post Oak Boulevard
@ San Felipe where the newest Whole Foods is located, as well
as some amazing new-concept restaurants.
we went to one called
NORTH Italia.

it was packed inside & out,
& my guy friend said, "Wow, there's a $Million worth of cars out here,
& there are only 2 of them."

anyway, for my Houston readers, the place is great, lots of Tanglewood residents there,
not a young group at all, just looked like a great new neighborhood place.
& we walked there, remember?

love love love to all of you

  1. This post is so timely, Marsha. We will be spending the first week of April in Vegas and I think your suggestions will be pretty much perfect. It is about time to start putting it all together, isn't it. Thanks. And the dining out sounds like so much fun. There just aren't many opportunities to walk to dinner from our little gated community.

  4. Would you still wear the black high heeled numbers? If so I am impressed. I am just trying to avoid the old lady shoes with the bum hip!! LOVED Round Top would love to go back under different circumstances!! Would love to hear your opinion!!

  5. I love everything that you have showed us, except my heel days are over. But, I do love to look at them. What happened to dressing professional for work? I cannot believe what people wear to work and that the employers allow it.
    Thanks for the tips.

  6. Very nice choices for travel. Marsha I forwarded your post about the restaurant to my sister who lives in Houston and she wrote back that it's next to where the original Saks Fifth Avenue store used to be. I was part of the management team that opened that store back in the seventies. That's a fabulous area. Now I missing Houston and the restaurant scene...

  9. No, no, your posts are NEVER boring (as you queried in your post today). Sometimes I don't see your post in my feed until a few days have passed so come here late. Sometimes life just gets in the way and commenting on every dear friend's every blog, especially if she/he posts daily, is just too much to keep up with, that's why I may not always pop up here Marsha dear. Some people whom I comment on regularly rarely, or sometimes never, leave me a comment, then I admit I have to make the big decision as to whether I should continue following them. The 'big bloggers', you know who you are, are often in that last category I find! I dislike a 'tit for tat' mindset but let's face it, there's only so much a gal can allow. Hey, life is short, with much pain at times, and I for one want to be happy and know I'm doing my part best I can.

Anyway, dear I loved this post and as I travel often need all the help I can get. I don't mind the actual packing routine - although Mr. Bob never allows two checked suitcases each any longer as we just can't handle so much baggage now - so it's the choosing of the items and how to make room in one bag. For two plus weeks this is really difficult - all I can say is thank God for black pants! I'm off on a river cruise soon - Budapest to Amsterdam and already losing sleep over just what to pack as will be gone 3 weeks. It may still be cool in Europe, especially on the Danube/Rhine, so I'll be layering. The best part - NO formal nights such as on the big cruise ships! It's so hard getting evening wear into that one suitcase - which is why I travel with a black tuxedo jacket - it's a lifesaver and I've never been banned from the dining room on any of Cunard's Queens, or even very posh (and the best ship ever) Crystal's Serenity, bless their hearts!

Love and hugs - off to leave a quicky on today's post now!
    Mary -

  10. This is SO perfect and SO similar to my general packing schematic - although I never can fit it all into just a carryon!

Please know how much I value your comments. I read every single one and do hope you will take the time to leave your thoughts. I think InstaGram with the Emojis have taken a lot away from blogging, but I love IG too.
