LADYLIKE, Fall Trend #2

Valentino
detail shot

Christian Dior

Leather Ruffles, Flowered Silk, Bows
(we know most of us wouldn't wear the look exactly this way, don't we?)

Christian Dior
again, longer skirts, floating fabrics, sheers, leather with ruffles/peplum

going forward into Spring,  we can now see the same elements returning,

the big statement necklace,
soft draping...
longer lengths...
sheer fabrics, flowers

OK to purchase for Fall and use again in Spring.

Below, both Oscar de la Renta for Spring 2011

the thought is ruffles, ladylike, soft & feminine
in any manner which suits your personal style.

when I was working I had clients of every shape & age;
it was my pleasure (& lots of fun) to find something
for them which said "current" by incorporating the key
trends into what we already knew to be their own style.

it took me a really long time to discover that I didn't need to own
every outfit in the store to be a best-dressed,  & happening person.

And, since I'm preaching or teaching...I am really tired of seeing blogs
showing what just happened on the Spring 2011 runways
when most of us are only just now thinking about Fall 2010.

I know, from years of  working in fashion, that the collections
are presented for the fashion industry; so the industry people can
make their buying plans, the advertising agencies can turn out
splendid ad campaigns when the time comes, etc.

If I couldn't give my beloved readers something other than re-hashed hash
I would think I had lost my creativity.

So, there!  And, now I feel better.

  1. Marsha, gorgeous beyond! I adore the feminine looks, fabrics flowing, ruffles, draping, so soft!

The first image it may be the model, the hair, the stance, etc that makes it edgier.

  5. Splendid collection of fine fashion - it always amazes me what designers can do with the basics, flowers, silks, ruffles, bows, and turn it into a work of art.

    Lovely post,

Agree with you jumping ahead, what is the rush anyway, on another blog someone said it was "unintentional war" blogging. Way too competitive...sigh.

But I love your blog, for your authenticity, and beautiful creations.

    Cheers,
    Joanny

  6. SO love the Valentino. And yes, could easily transition right into spring where the mantra was white, white, white. Did I mention I LOVED the Valentino?

Please know how much I value your comments. I read every single one and do hope you will take the time to leave your thoughts. I think InstaGram with the Emojis have taken a lot away from blogging, but I love IG too.
