Choose the Dress For the Kentucky Derby

Dori Spector, artist

the 1st image shows "Gemologist" leading, I think there is no other choice for me,
I'm betting on "Gemologist."

I thought it would be fun to have everyone put in a vote for the outfit they like best,
to wear
to the Derby next Saturday.

What to Wear to the Kentucky Derby ?, created by splenderosa on Polyvore
a dress is the only appropriate thing to wear,
no pants. and after shopping literally all day long last week these are the final 5.

I love all of these and it wouldn't matter to me which one is chosen as they each have
a bit of uniqueness.

left to right
Givenchy, Valentino, Vivienne Westwood, Roksinda Ilincic, Warehouse

now this is the fun part...
once you guys choose the dress
I will accessorize it from the hat to the shoes,

& do a post showing every detail.

one of my most-read posts ever was called
Mom-Mom Rocks the Kentucky Derby

come play with me, choose THE dress

if anyone needs a simply divine hat please go see my friend, Jill Henning,
who is a master, her website is HERE

I love all of your choices! I must say that you can NEVER go wrong with a Vivienne Westwood. That dress would be so attractive with the mandatory hat ;-) Enjoy! PS...I love music on your blog!

Love the Givenchy! Diane

I love the Valentino. Not only for its classic lines but also because it is a clean slate and your statement can be made with the hat and jewelry. With the others the accessories would have to compete. But, you can't go wrong with any of them. Great choices!

Vivienne Wood! Its so pretty, it would look stunning, now i might have to look for one too!

Fun....I love them all but going with either the chic white Valentino or the great floral by Warehouse, topped with an amazing it!

How fun. I like the Vivienne Westwood in the center the best. It has just the right amount of flounce in the skirt to make a grand entrance as a southern belle. Besides, it would look fabulous with a big hat.

I'll pick Valentino, please. It is simple and elegant and you can go crazy with the accessories.

Warehouse gets my vote. I'm actually working on my outfit for Ascot this week while in London. Must find the right hat--this year fascinators are not allowed in the Royal Ascot section where we will be seated, so the pressure is on!

This is fun and I choose the one by Vivienne Westwood. I like the shot of color and playfulness and looks comfortable.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Marsha, what fun! I would choose the white Valentino and add some color with a big hat and the shoes. And some jewelry. :-)

Vivienne Westwood - I love the simplicity of the shape, style and those colours!

Whichever you pick I know we can breathe a sigh of relief that you won't be reaching for any orange rooster hats when accessorizing :)

Gemologist is gorgeous. My vote is for the white dress with the tucked hips. Shiree'

I would pick the Valentino and then go over the top with the hat ;-)

HELLO THERE! I wanted to thank you for your birthday wishes my dear! It is so good to see you again! And what a great idea to choose a dress for such a grand event. I must go and see what you have!

I am enjoying my beautiful necklace that you fashioned for the giveaway that I won. Thank you again and now, I will look at those dresses! Anita

WOW, I love that long POLKA DOT skirt with the elbow length black gloves. YES, that is the one I would wear!!! Anita

Anita's choice is over on the "Mom-Mom" page. And, it's pretty wonderful, but not one of my 5 choices, unfortunately.

Love the Valentino (perfectly classic) and the Givenchy (so fitted and flattering) Gorgeous choices and perfect for the occasion and those horses are just spectacular!

The Roksinda Illincic is unique and still classy. The right hat to balance would make a statement. Am I the only one? Oh well it must be that Swinging from a Star thing...

The classic Valentino white is the only possible choice. All the runway styles as the moment, white is the new little black dress!

love the
Givenchy because it is a stand out.
Now to shop for a hat!

I love # 3 floral dress! Sounds amazing--lucky you! We are huge horseraciing fans here, and dream of coming to the derby one day.

Oh I would always go for a Valentino,
but the V. Westwood is also drool worthy.

And aren't those horses look so handsome?

Kathleen Lisson said...

I am rooting for Gemologist as well. I choose the Vivienne Westwood dress.

We both have great taste in horses, too! Looking forward to your photos.
